I agree. Documentation isn't the only tool rather just a metaphorical tool in the toolbox.

I agree with your second point as well. Fantastic Engineers who understand the tech and blend the best of that and their experience are the answer. But those are hard to find! Hence why I am starting this series to try and grow more Anti-Hype Engineers
